Pros and Cons of Using WordPress for My Portfolio

After spending time building my portfolio on WordPress, I’ve come to understand both the strengths and weaknesses of this CMS.

Pros:

1. Flexibility – With themes and plugins, you can create almost any kind of site.
2. Community Support – There are tutorials, forums, and documentation everywhere.
3. Cost-Friendly – Many tools are free or low cost, which is ideal for students.

Cons:

1. Plugin Overload – Too many plugins can slow down or even break a site.
2. Updates – Constant updates can sometimes cause compatibility issues.
3. Learning Curve – Even though it’s beginner-friendly, there are still technical hurdles.

The hardest part for me was figuring out plugin conflicts, especially when reinstalling my site and discovering that some anti-spam plugins were no longer free. It was frustrating, but it taught me to carefully research alternatives (which is how I found Anti Spam Bee).
